Which geographic areas does the content of this website cover?
This website covers the north Cheshire market town of Altrincham and the early Victorian suburb of Bowdon to south. To a lesser extent, Broadheath, Dunham, Dunham Massey, Hale, Hale Barns, Oldfield and Rostherne are also featured.
How do I search the Altrincham Heritage website?
For an overall search of most of the text on the website or the PDFs, go to Google and type your key search words plus altrinchamheritage.com.
Most of the individual PDFs you download from the Historic Publications and Documents, Street Directories or else the Local History Publications can be searched using the Find function in your PDF reader (usually a magnifying glass symbol) or else on your keyboard, using Ctrl + F. As with all searchable PDFs of historic publications, an additional visual search may be needed.
You can also try Ctrl + F on your keyboard, to search for words on any of the Altrincham Heritage website pages.
On the Compare 1852 and 1876 Plans page you can search for a modern street name or location, which will bring up the data relating to the corresponding Plot on the 1852 Local Board of Health Plans of Altrincham Township. Sometimes there is an image of a street or building giving further information.

On the 1852 Plans Data page you can search by owner, occupier or Plot number and be shown the associated data, as well as being given a link to the Plot location on the 1852 Local Board of Health Plans.
